Instant confirmation vs. request to book
Some properties confirm instantly — you'll see "Instant confirmation" on the listing. Others are request to book: the property has 24 hours to review your dates and answer — or until 18:00 on the check-in day, if that comes sooner. If nobody answers, the hold lapses on its own and you are free to book elsewhere. Either way, you're not charged online — payment is made directly to the property in its own currency.
